Printing Guide
Follow these tips to get the best results from your printable activity kits and coloring books.
Recommended Paper
- Standard activities: Regular printer paper (80-90 gsm / 20-24 lb) works well for puzzles, mazes, and writing activities.
- Coloring pages: Use thicker paper (120-160 gsm / 32-60 lb cardstock) to prevent marker bleed-through and give a more satisfying coloring experience.
- Craft templates: Cardstock (160-200 gsm / 60-80 lb) is recommended for cut-out crafts and activities that need to stand up or be handled frequently.
- Matte finish is generally better than glossy for activities where kids will write, draw, or color.
Printer Settings
- Paper size:All files are designed for US Letter (8.5 x 11 inches). If you use A4 paper, select “Fit to page” in your print settings.
- Quality:Set print quality to “Best” or “High” for vibrant colors. “Draft” mode saves ink but colors will look faded.
- Color mode: Print in color for the best experience. Some pages (like mazes or writing activities) can be printed in black and white to save ink.
- Scaling:Set to “Actual size” or 100% scale. Avoid “Shrink to fit” as it may make text too small for young readers.
Printing Tips
- Print a test page first to check colors and alignment before printing the full kit.
- You can reprint any page as many times as you like — that is the beauty of printable resources.
- For double-sided printing, check that your printer supports it and use thicker paper to prevent bleed-through.
- Let printed pages dry for a moment before stacking, especially with inkjet printers, to prevent smudging.
- Use a paper trimmer instead of scissors for clean, straight edges on craft templates.
Troubleshooting
- Colors look dull or faded
- Check that your print quality is set to “Best” and that you are printing in color mode. Low ink levels can also cause faded output.
- Content is cut off at the edges
- Make sure scaling is set to “Actual size” or “Fit to page.” Check that the correct paper size (Letter or A4) is selected in your printer settings.
- Ink is smudging
- Let pages dry for 30 seconds before touching or stacking. Switch to a heavier paper weight if smudging persists. Laser printers generally produce smudge-free results.
- File will not open
- All files are in standard PDF format. Use Adobe Acrobat Reader (free), your browser's built-in PDF viewer, or any PDF-compatible app to open them.
